About L.B.S Centre

LBS Centre for Science and Technology (LBSCS&T), Trivandrum, the premier institute of Computer training and consultancy registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1955 (Reg. No. 279 of 1976), was established by Government of Kerala in 1976 in memory of our late Prime Minister Sri. Lal Bahadur Sastri.  The Centre was started by Government of Kerala as an autonomous body with the main objective that the Centre would act as a link between the industries and technical institutions so as to benefit the society through their mutual interactions.

The L.B.S Centre is administered by a Governing Body and an Executive Committee. The Chief Minister, Government of Kerala is the Chairman of the Governing Body and Minister for education is the Vice Chairman. The Secretary for Higher Education is the Chairman of the Executive Committee and Director of Technical Education is its Vice Chairman.

Major Activities of L.B.S Centre

The activities of the Centre include promotion of academic excellence in the field of technical education. It is with this motive that L.B.S Centre has started the following two Engineering Colleges in the State.

1. LBS Institute of Technology for Women, Poojappura, Trivandrum.
2. LBS College of Engineering, Kasaragod.


LBS Centre is a recognized research study Centre of Kerala University leading to the award of Ph.D. The Centre is also conducting postgraduate diploma and certificate courses in software and hardware applications, which are approved by State Government.

L.B.S Centre promotes scientific research by undertaking research projects in the field of Engineering/Technical consultancy and provides consultancy services in design, development and experimentation with respect to industrial problems and projects. The Centre undertakes consultancy projects in the field of software, civil engineering, architecture, management, hardware, web development and instrumentation. It has provided consultancy services to Central PWD, Post and Telegraphs, Indian Railways, ISRO, International Airports Authority of India, Reserve Bank of India, Indian Rare Earths, and to various Kerala Government departments.
