EXAMINATION

i)There shall be University examinations at the end of first academic year and at the end of every semester from third semester onwards in the subjects as prescribed under the respective schemes of examinations.

Continuous evaluation procedure
Out of 150 marks for each subject, 50 marks
awarded for continuous assessment of student
performance
Uniform and transparent system for progressive
evaluation for theory and practical classes
Theory
Two series tests (60% weightage)
Two assignments (40% weightage)
Practical
Lab practicals and Record (60% weightage)
Two tests (40% weightage
Student performance in tests and assignments
evaluated on a regular basis
Students are apprised of their weakness and
counseled for improvements
Progress reports of students are sent to parents
for information and follow up.
Sessional Work Assessment:
Theory
Assignment 2* 10 = 20 Marks
2 Tests 2 * 15 = 30 Marks
Total = 50 Marks
 

i)A candidate will be permitted to appear for the University examination only if he satisfies the following conditions.
a)He must secure not less than 75% attendance in the total number of working periods during the first year and in each semester thereafter.
b)His conduct must be satisfactory.
c)He must earn a progress certificate from the Head of institution of having satisfactorily the course of study in the semester or year as
prescribed by these regulations.

iii)It shall be open to the University to grant condonation or shortage of attendance on the recommendation of the Principal in accordance with certain norms.A candidate who is not eligible for the condonation of attendance shall repeat the course.

PASSING REQUIREMENT

A candidate who secures not less than 50% marks in a subject at the University examination shall be declared to have passed the examination in the subject.
A candidate who secures not less than 40% marks in the subject at the University examination and not less than 50% of the total marks assigned to the subject ,which includes the marks of the University examination ,and sessional assignments shall also be declared to be passed the examination in the subject.

IMPROVEMENTS

A candidate shall be followed to improve his/her marks only after cancelling the earlier marks and improvements attempts will be permitted only once,during the immediate chance following the examinations concerned .

Pass marks of Project and Viva-voce

Minimum pass marks for all projects shall be 50% of the maximum marks.There is no minimum pass mark for viva-voce.

Classification of successful candidates

a) First Class with Distinction:A candidate who qualify for the Degree passing all the subjects of the eight semesters within five academic years(10 consecutive semesters)after the commencement of his course of study and secure not less than 75% of the aggregate of total marks of all the eight semesters.
b) First Class : Candidate who qualify for the Degree passing for the all the subjects of the eight semesters within five academic years(10 consecutive semesters) after the commencement of his course of study and secure not less than 60% of the aggregate of total marks of all the eight semesters.
c) Second Class: All other successful candidates shall be declared to have passed the B.Tech .Degree Examination in second class.
