Debate & Literary Club

DELITE

 OUR MISSION

The DEbate & LITErary club (DELITE) had started in the college in December, 2006, with an aim to nurture the literary activities in the college.

It was formed as a result of the efforts from a few first year students of that time & 2 staffs – Mr.Vineesh (former Lecturer, Applied science dept.) & Mr.Dileep.V.K (Lecturer, CSE dept.).Initially there were only 10 student members from a single batch.

The present day debate club has taken this shape as a result of consistent effort from students & teachers.

Today, this club has about 50 members from 3 batches.

 OBJECTIVES

         To develop student’s aptitude towards literary activities.

  To improve literary skills & expressiveness of students and help them to face competitive exams & interviews.

  To impart social responsibility & improve their general knowledge.

  To conduct literary activities in the college.

   Finally, to help students in personality development & guide them for a better career.

  STRUCTURE

 The club functions based on a multi tier system consisting of:-

ACTIVITIES

The members gather at least once in a week to perform any one of the literary activities (G.D, Debate, Extempore, etc.). Topics will be declared in the notice board.

Various weekly /monthly columns are maintained by students in the notice board.

Conducts various literary activities in the college.

Covers topics from current affairs, education, our problems, social, national & international issues.

Programmes to develop communication skills and preparing the students for interviews.

 ACHIEVEMENTS

    Conducted a name suggestion contest for the students to suggest a name for our club.

     Conducted an essay writing competition for students in both English and Malayalam

                                         Topic: - Challenges of Youth & its Solutions

                                         Winners: - Mr. Prasobh (S4 IT) - Malayalam

                                                           Mr. Sanju (S1S2 EEE) – English

      Various members from our club achieved places in various Quizzes, Debate & other literary competitions.

 MEMBERSHIP

We maintain a membership register having details if members. The membership to the club is given on filling the membership form and giving membership fees of Rs. 15 to the student coordinator.

FUTURE PLANS

        To conduct a talk show on literary skills.

        To conduct more literary competitions in the college.

        To prepare a journal (monthly) on our sessions.

        To conduct a personality development programme.

        To increase the frequency of sessions from weekly to biweekly or triweekly.
